IIMJAA Executive Committee

The Executive Committee shall be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Association. Executive Committee of IIMJAA is comprised of 14 members. All the 7 members of the Governing Body are part of the Executive Committee. These Governing Body Members are Ex-Officio Employees of IIM Jammu.

The remaining 7 members of the Executive Committee will be Alumni of IIM Jammu. At this initial step, the 7 Alumni will be selected by the Governing Body. And within 6 months elections will be conducted to elect the Alumni Representatives on the Executive Committee.

Responsibilities of the Executive Committee

  1. Strategic Planning: Set long-term goals for alumni engagement and growth.
  2. Events & Outreach: Plan reunions, webinars, networking sessions, etc.
  3. Mentorship & Career Support: Facilitate connections between alumni and students.
  4. Communication: Maintain regular communication via newsletters, social media, etc.
  5. Database Management: Help maintain updated records of alumni.
  6. Fundraising & Sponsorships: Support institution development through alumni contributions.

The roles and responsibilities of the members of the Executive Committee are as follows:

1. President
1.1. Elected Representative

The President shall be an Alumni, elected as a member of the Executive Committee and shall serve as the chief representative of the Alumni Association, responsible for fostering active alumni engagement.

1.2. Authority to Convene Meetings (in consultation with Chairman)

The President may, in consultation with the Chairman, initiate or recommend the convening of Executive Committee or General Body meetings to address significant matters concerning the Association.

1.3. Leadership and Supervision

The President shall provide strategic leadership to the Executive Committee and oversee the implementation of plans and programs that align with the objectives of the Alumni Association and the vision of the Institute.

1.4. Reporting and Coordination

The President shall be responsible for coordinating the activities of the Executive Committee, ensuring regular communication with alumni, and submitting periodic updates to the Chairman and the Governing Body on the progress and impact of alumni initiatives.

1.5. Representation and Promotion

The President shall act as the principal spokesperson of the Alumni Association at institutional events and external forums and shall work towards strengthening the relationship between alumni and the Institute.

2. Vice President
2.1. Elected Member

The Vice President shall be an Alumni, elected as a member of the Executive Committee and shall assist the President in the discharge of duties related to the functioning and advancement of the Alumni Association.

2.2. Acting Role in Absence of President

In the absence or unavailability of the President, the Vice President shall assume the responsibilities of the President and shall preside over meetings and represent the Association as required.

2.3. Operational Support and Coordination

The Vice President shall support the planning and execution of alumni programs and initiatives, and shall ensure effective coordination between regional representatives, committees, and working groups.

2.4. Alumni Engagement and Outreach

The Vice President shall take a proactive role in enhancing alumni participation, initiating outreach activities, and promoting networking and collaboration among alumni members across regions and batches.

2.5. Advisory and Strategic Input

The Vice President shall provide strategic input to the Executive Committee and work closely with the President and Chairman to uphold the vision and values of the Institute through alumni efforts.

3. Joint Secretaries

Regional & International Alumni Representatives Designations:

  • Joint Secretary – International
  • Joint Secretary – North
  • Joint Secretary – South
  • Joint Secretary – East
  • Joint Secretary – West
3.1. Elected Regional Representatives

Each Joint Secretary shall be an elected member of the Executive Committee, responsible for representing alumni interests within their assigned region or international domain.

3.2. Alumni Engagement and Networking

Joint Secretaries shall work to foster alumni connections within their regions, encourage active participation, and develop strong local alumni communities.

3.3. Communication and Representation

They shall act as communication conduits between alumni in their regions and the Executive Committee, ensuring local feedback, ideas, and concerns are heard and incorporated into planning.

3.4. Organizing Regional Activities

Joint Secretaries shall organize and coordinate regional alumni meets, professional networking events, and community service initiatives, aligned with the Association's mission.

3.5. Periodic Reporting

They shall submit brief reports or updates to the President and Vice President on regional activities, participation levels, and opportunities for further engagement.

3.6. Collaboration and Support

Joint Secretaries shall collaborate with other regional representatives to support pan-India or global initiatives of the Alumni Association and the Institute.

Additional Responsibilities of the Joint Secretary – International
3.7. Strengthening Global Alumni Network

The Joint Secretary – International shall lead efforts to map, connect, and mobilize international alumni, encouraging global engagement and participation in Institute-led initiatives.

3.8. Establishing International Chapters

He/she shall facilitate the formation of international alumni chapters or regional hubs, in consultation with the Executive Committee, especially in countries with high alumni density.

3.9. Supporting Global Outreach

The role includes assisting the Institute in building global visibility, promoting international collaborations, and connecting alumni with opportunities to contribute to IIM Jammu's internationalization efforts.

3.10. Coordination Across Time Zones

The Joint Secretary – International shall manage communication and coordination challenges across time zones, ensuring regular interaction through digital platforms, webinars, or virtual reunions.

3.11. International Alumni Advocacy

The role also includes advocating for the interests and concerns of international alumni, including matters related to credential verification, career support, and cross-border institutional partnerships.
